Since 1990, Living Valley has welcomed thousands of guests to our health retreat in the Noosa Hinterland – a place to step away from everyday life and give your health the time and attention it deserves.
Across 145 acres of peaceful countryside, personalised health programs, nourishing food, restorative therapies and experienced practitioners come together to create an experience that feels as nurturing as it is purposeful.
Long before Living Valley became the retreat it is today, it began with a shared belief that the way we live can have a profound influence on our health.
In the 1980s, Gary and Debbie Martin had begun studying the relationship between lifestyle and health, with a vision to create a place dedicated to helping people restore their wellbeing. Their studies led them to the health and cleansing principles developed by American Master Herbalist Dr Al Wolfsen, whose approach to nutrition, detoxification and lifestyle change would help shape the foundations of Living Valley.
They later joined forces with Les and Kay Shaw, who shared the same vision, establishing their first health and lifestyle centre in northern New South Wales.
Then, in 1990, they found Kin Kin.
Tucked away in the Noosa Hinterland was an overgrown property with one house and five small cabins. It required an enormous amount of work, but they could see what it could become: a place away from the demands of everyday life where people could focus on their health, surrounded by nature and supported by people who genuinely cared.
The families moved onto the property in October 1990. Just weeks later, Living Valley welcomed its first guests.
What began simply grew year by year, shaped by the people who came through its doors, the practitioners who dedicated themselves to their care, and an ongoing commitment to learning more about health and the human body.
More than 35 years later, Living Valley remains on that same Noosa Hinterland property – still family-led, still evolving, and still guided by the purpose on which it was built.
Today, Living Valley is led by CEO Giselle Martin, daughter of founders Gary and Debbie Martin, who was just ten years old when her family arrived in Kin Kin.
Giselle grew up at Living Valley, learning the retreat from the ground up and working across almost every part of it – from the kitchen and guest care to therapies, product development and the day-to-day operation of the retreat. In 2016, she stepped into the role of Managing Director and CEO, carrying forward the vision she had grown up within.
Under her leadership, Living Valley has continued to evolve. New programs, facilities and therapies have been introduced, while the retreat’s longstanding focus on personalised care, health education, nutrition and practical lifestyle change remains at its heart.
Today, an experienced team of practitioners, therapists and wellness professionals work together to support each guest individually, combining decades of experience with an approach that continues to advance alongside our understanding of health and wellbeing.
The result is a Living Valley that honours where it came from while continuing to look forward.
We believe financial circumstances shouldn’t always stand in the way of someone accessing the support they need.
Living Valley’s Benevolent Fund was established to help people experiencing significant health challenges who may not otherwise be able to afford a stay at the retreat. Through the generosity of donors, we are able to provide financial assistance towards the cost of a Living Valley program for eligible individuals experiencing genuine financial hardship.
Donations to the fund help us extend the care and support of Living Valley to people who need it most. You may also choose to contribute towards the stay of someone you know who is experiencing financial hardship and would benefit from the support of Living Valley.
